Inaugural Rhetoric: Logos, Ethos and Pathos
Students will listen to, read, and analyze the Inaugural Addresses of Barack Obama and John F. Kennedy. Students will write a write three (3) paragraph essay that compares and contrasts the appeals to logos, ethos and pathos represented in each rhetorical speech. Each essay should contain an introduction, one body paragraph comparing Obama’s usage of logical, emotional and creditable rhetoric with Kennedy’s rhetoric, and a concluding paragraph that reflects which president most effectively used rhetoric to persuade his audience.
